With Cardiff City struggling and stuck to the bottom of the Championship table, they really need to be looking for a new manager.
Current player Aaron Ramsey couldn’t be any worse than the last ten managers, surely (excluding peak Warnock and Championship Malky).
He has no managerial experience but has a good football brain, is relatively well-qualified and is respected as a player amongst his peers.
He has also worked under some superb managers (as did Ole, so maybe this is not the best argument, but it is still a valid argument when you see he’s also played under a few top coaches like Wenger, Sarri, and maybe Pirlo).
He must have an idea of what a good coach looks like. He’s also played alongside Mikkel Arteta, who was a great leader on the pitch.
He is also very well-connected in the game and could potentially attract quality coaches, assistants and loan players. He is a Cardiff lad and loves the club (despite some of our fans slagging him off just because he gets injured a lot).
He could be a great interim manager and, with an experienced number two, would surely be no worse than the failures that we’ve had in recent years.
If he fails, then at least they would have tried a fresh approach rather than the tried-and-tested Slade/McCarthy strategy.
Let’s face it: Tan won’t spend money on most of the managerial names that we would pick as fans.
Imagine if he got the chance, was terrific, and turned the team’s fortunes around.
I’m betting on bringing Russell Slade back, though, knowing the people who have hired managers for The Bluebirds in the past.
